Signup To Volunteer for Summer Lunch Program

Evergreen Church is proud to partner with Smart Lunch, Smart Kid to provide lunch to hundreds of children across Fayette County in Summer 2018. Smart Lunch, Smart Kid is a branch of Action Ministries, an Evergreen Church Ministry partner, that serves the many children who receive reduced-priced lunches during the school year, but are left undernourished during summer breaks.
We are looking for volunteers to make sandwiches, pack lunches, and deliver the lunches to the children every Thursday morning during the summer.  Volunteer for any Thursday by clicking here. This a great volunteer opportunity for the whole family.

May 20th is Pentecost Sunday – Wear Red

This Sunday, we ask that you wear red to church in celebration of Pentecost, which is the gift of the Holy Spirit descending in wind and flame to inspire the church’s proclamation of Christ’s rising and to empower its mission and ministry to the world.

The Holy Spirit Comes at Pentecost
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them. Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans?  Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!” Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, “What does this mean?”Some, however, made fun of them and said, “They have had too much wine.” Acts 2:1-13

The Evergreen Church Directories Are In!

We are excited that our directories are finally here! If you had your picture taken or you submitted a family photo for the directory please see Jo Ramm on Sunday, May 13th, to pick up your copy. There is one directory per family unit and Jo will have a sheet for you to sign to verify you picked up your directory. If you cannot pick up your directory on Sunday, please see Sarah in the church office during the week to pick up your copy.

We will have an opportunity for those who did not get their picture taken to have a copy of the directory in the coming weeks and will let you know when you can pick up your copy.

A special thank you to Jo Ramm who coordinated the photo sessions and meetings with LifeTouch. Also, a special thank you to Sally Fleming and Tamara Kester who put together and updated the contact list for the directory.
