Fayette Samaritans Still Has Several Needs For Their Pantry

Fayette Samaritans still has several needs for their pantry. The following items are among those needed for the month of May: canned meats, pasta, pasta sauce, jelly, peanut butter, canned fruit, oatmeal, hygiene products, feminine products, and diapers. They also are requesting prayer for their clients and volunteers. For a full list of items, please click here. We always have a bin set up in the church hallway leading to the children’s wing where you can drop off any of these items and our Mission Team Ambassadors will ensure the items will be delivered to Fayette Samaritans.

Presbytery of the South Meeting Was a Success!

This past Friday and Saturday, Evergreen Church hosted the Presbytery of the South Meeting, which meets three times a year. We had an amazing attendance of 80 people consisting of pastors and elders from churches in GA, TN, AL, and MS.

The main speaker of the event was Carmen Fowler Laberge, a radio talk show, and a long-time Presbyterian pastor. Carmen reminded the group that we are never dealing with issues, but rather, we are dealing with people. As a church, we need to move from what we are against to what is breaking our hearts.  She also pointed out that in today’s culture Children’s Ministry is vital to the ongoing life of the church. Much of what Carmen discussed continued to emphasize the importance of changing the face of the church.  One statistic she mentioned was that if you are ten or younger and white in America, you are now a minority.

Other notable things to mention from the meeting  include an update on the state of the ECO denomination given by Rev. Dr. Dana Allin, the Executive of the Synod. Also, seven pastors, including our own Pastor Feuerbach, and four new churches were welcomed to our Presbytery.

Overall, the weekend was a huge success and many attendees said we set the bar for upcoming Presbytery meetings.
A special thank you to all of our volunteers and staff who made this event a success: Stacy Taylor, Karen Donahue, Chuck & Kathy Olmsted, Al & Gayle Gardner, John & Kay Lloyd, Bill Matthews, Martha Phillis, Janna McCauley, Fred Dunkelberger, Judy Bellamy, Betty Poticny, Kristin Haggerty, Jonathan Goolsbee, the Choir, and the Contemporary Worship Team.
